"I went in for an interview. I arrived 20 mins early because I wanted to buy a book and some coffee. There was no one at the register, but there were three people who were in the customer service who suggested I go to the cafe to get checked out. When I asked for the manager, the person said he wouldn't be there for another hour and when I mentioned my interview she changed and said he was on his way then. The manager was 15 mins late. It was unprofessional. If I had been late, I doubt they would wait on me. I left as he was walking in."
"Hastings isn't really the best place to work at. Hastings hires way too many people, when we have enough people asking for more hours. The discount is good for some things, but when a new system comes out for ex., it costs employees more than the tag price, to discourage them to buy it. Hastings has a set limit of hours that a store can have altogether with all the employees. Which, when hiring more people, you'll eventually leave people with 14 hours a week (which happened at my store). You have to sell magazines, which are nothing more than an obvious scam. If you don't you'll get written up.(No one wants any magazines.) It seems like Hastings is working towards making their CSA's miserable, with their new policy where the CSA has to do all the closing duties, even if it's extremely busy, and if the store is anything like mine, the sodas are in the back room. CSA's aren't allowed in the back room without a manager going with them. Pros: you get paid.Advice: simply wouldn't recommend it."
