Working at Golden Technologies in Valparaiso, IN: 4 Employee Reviews

Golden Technologies Employee

"The company offers great solutions, but often struggles to fulfill them in an organized manner. Also, as a former employee, if you do not fit into their "family setting" you will get terminated without just cause, despite if you're fulfilling your job description."

"Flat Earthers R-US, Extremely Inept Management."

What do you like about working at Golden Technologies?

"Absolutely nothing. Golden Tech, as they call themselves now, has all the exterior polish of a well put together company. Great looking marketing material. A slick web presence. Pretty receptionist at the front desk. But once you're inside, it's a whole other world. One where disorganized chaos is the order of the day."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"First off, they blindly advertise job openings on Craigslist. So if they respond to your resume and you hear the name Golden Tech just hang up the phone. It's not worth the time or effort to interview with them. You really, really, really don't want to waste your time working here. It's a good ole' boys club - and that's putting it nicely. Seek gainful employment elsewhere."

What don't you like about working at Golden Technologies?

"For starters they allow employees to keep open liquor containers (Whiskey, Scotch, Beer, you name it) right on their desktops. The employees are allowed to play video games on their company computers, and drink alcohol during working hours - yes, truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. To top it off, there is no unified chain of authority. Field techs are allowed to basically fend for themselves. There's absolutely no documentation for anything related to how you're expected to perform your job. Management, operational, and promotion decisions are made at the Directors whim, versus whats best practice for the business. Speaking of the company director. The company's Director isn't a nice person at all. In fact, he's a mean spirited jerk. The guys got the management style of a yard ape. And all of his so-called managers are merely his brown nosing cronies, with absolutely no professional management experience what so ever (one of them, his last job eight months ago was as a stereo installer - go figure). Golden's business model is so bad that they lose major accounts left and right. Gariup Construction just fired them two weeks ago. What does that tell you The remainder of their clients are small ma and pa businesses. It's a wonder they can keep their doors open. But company's run this poorly eventually fall on their own sword."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire a real Director, who has more professional experience under his belt than just managing a restaurant (my guess is he must've last managed a KFC) Train and certify your techs for the technologies your customers are actually using instead of having your techs just wing it. Train your Managers, or hire real ones with actual management experience. Create a new hire training and orientation program. And stop advertising to your customers let's sit down and have drink. I wouldn't say this is the worst place in the world to work, because there's the worst place, and then there's Golden Tech."
