Global Eagle Employee

"Pros: Global Eagle is or was home to some truly great professional peers who rallied around those who needed help or could inspire those to work towards a sensible goal. When Global Eagle acquired EMC back in 2016 we felt like we were saved from a highly persecutory, chaotic, and high-stress environment which gave us a morale boost for a while but then other problems emerged. Cons: Tone-deaf and disconnected management leading to plenty of missteps that later caught up to us and was likely reflected on our income statement. Various direct managers seemed to have a tendency to practice gate-keeping which did little to allow individual contributors to feel included, much less, to dissolve the "us vs. them" sentiment established by previous business leaders. This led many of us to get stuck in a state of learned helplessness and to focus only on things we believed we could control. ELT team seems to still struggle with leading the overall business diligently. Advice to Management: Discontinue the practice of that confounded hour-tracking for salaried employees. If you truly think there is something to learn from the lower echelons of the organization, then practice more sensitivity and spend more than one day in any particular office to foster a decent forum for conversation. Saying things like "who wants to be brave?" as a form of inviting feedback only triggers defensive mechanisms and closes people off. We still have people who would rather keep their heads down and continue collecting a paycheck as long as possible. If anything, please, remember that morale is on the floor and that you will have to have patience and empathy with your employees in order to help them out of their learned helplessness."

"I worked for Global Eagle for well over three years where I had a phenomenon experience with international and domestic accounts alike. It was here that I would strategize, conceptualize, and execute large marketing campaigns utilizing a number of different platforms to get the client message out."

"The company I work for has been bought out by a corporation of people who never understood the business, just making money. Massive layoffs over the past few years and removal of OT and raises. Why work for a company that cares nothing about their employees but lining their own pockets. I love this industry, however this particular company is tanking it because all structures (which were put in place for a reason) have been done away with. On top of the fact they don't understand how seniority works. I would actually never recommend someone to work for this company. I truly believe it is a sinking ship."

"Too much constant turmoil at the SLT level to get any real initiatives to market. Lots of good talented people but the company lacks direction."
