What do you like about working at Geolog?
"I have met a wide variety of people from different parts of the world. It's a good opportunity to network with other people on the rigsite. Eventually the opportunity to travel increases. Client bonuses are eventually paid (if we find out and hustle the office enough). Equipment is good and tailored to the specific task. Travel allowance is provided in some cases. Flights to and from work are provided. Improving technical support."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be positive and willing to travel. Normal contracts are upto 6 on 3 off. Don't be pushy. You have to expect to work hard, and well with people. Generally have an interest, if you're being interviewed there's a big chance you will be hired. Expect no negotiaon on salary."
What don't you like about working at Geolog?
"A very one-sided approach. Pay is appauling relative to the responsibility. This site does not have a low enough scale. Expect to start at $15,000 base salary, with no extras for overtime (e.g. during rig up, and last half day working changovers). Each nationality has a different pay scheme, which seems discriminative. People earning less sometimes work less when with those earkning a little more. Office politics get in the way of personal development, appreciation and pay. Expect a very impersonal approach from the office. Good work is not rewarded, mistakes (due to inexperience and lack of available training severly punished). Training courses are a joke, I learnt from my colleagues who are not paid trainers.Promotions difficult to come by at the requirements keep changing and to catch out the unwary."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Up the salary to something livable. Provide meaningful training and expect better motivation, work and rewards. Offer something to work for, reward good work, good suggestions and people who work well with each other."
