"The entire Genesis experience was very disappointing and completely epitomes the current healthcare crisis. From the lack of proper training/orientation for new nurses and/or employees, to the complete absence of support from management. Serious safety concerns for patients and staff related to heavy work loads and poor staffing. Mandatory overtime for exhausted staff, this is when serious incidents have occurred and were ignored. When management was confronted with these issues they simply ignored it or inappropriately punished staff. Needless to say staff morale in this type of environment was the worst I have ever seen - from crying, foul language to arguments among staff members and etc. There is a reason why we are in this healthcare crisis and employers like Genesis just continue to feed the fire. Only one thing could turn this place around - UNION."

"I was the Recreation Director in NAME ONLY. I had a business card that said I was the Recreation Director for the single worst, most poorly managed, unprofessional work environment in the state of Connecticut. In 21 years of working in a professional setting, it was the single worst working experience of my life. My bottom line: poop rolls downhill, never up. Question, research and do as much investigating as you can regarding administration in this building!"

What don't you like about working at Genesis HealthCare System?

"Not open to new ideas. Promotions based on who you know, not what you know. Mission is just smoke and mirrors, they don't care about taking care of patients."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Bring in new talent with fresh ideas and get rid of the dead wood. Start listening to the staff. Come out of your offices and get up on the floors and talk to staff and find out what is neded for improvement."
