General UI Employee

"I arrived as Intern from El Salvador in August, 2015. The experience has been incredible; it has been an ideal environment to improve my skills as a software developer and business professional over the last year. Some of the practices and experiences at GUI that have impacted my career in a positive manner are: - ‘TDD' (Test Driven Development). TDD has taught me that it is not complicated to develop quality software. The discipline of TDD allows quality naturally, thus reducing the maintenance work for bugs and giving more time to focus on solutions to new features. - Working on a Wide Range of Projects. During my time at General UI I have worked on both web and mobile apps exposing me to many different technologies, frameworks, techniques and approaches - both technical and operational. The applications I have worked on have also spanned a number of industries and business functions such as travel, healthcare, security, and customer service. - Pair Programming. To support a wide range of technologies and industries, we rely on Pair programming practices. it has allowed me to consider and apply different approaches to a problem on the fly! Listening to previous experiences from partners allowed me to learn in a way that it couldn't be found in any book. Beside that, an active rotation of partners for programming allows constant communication among all team members. Project’s knowledge is spread naturally in the team so I have been able to collaborate many different projects and progress is never stopped by unexpected events in each private’s life. It feels great that sick leave and tower knowledge are no longer a big problem. Progress is notable! Additionally, we have a radar of the most current technology trends in TechMarket. This intention also motivates me to keep myself updated on the newest technologies. Working at General UI has been fascinating because this team motivates me to learn more every day."

"I've worked at General UI for a couple years now. It is a start up company based out of Fremont in Seattle. The management is pretty nice and the people were great. When I was let go because of funding it was kind of a bummer."
