"The position that I am in is certainly not for people who have been managers most of their career."
What don't you like about working at Florida State University?
"My salary. I took a 30K cut in pay. The biggest mistake of my life."

"There are not a lot of constraints. If you manage to get tenure it's a secure job -- but even then, tenured faculty have been fired for economic reasons."

"Keep interviewing. It may be a good stepping stone but never never never treat that place as though it is a career."
What don't you like about working at Florida State University?
"Administration (lack of). Working at FSU is like working in a prison where the inmates run everything. It's an Animal Farm where I would not even send an unwanted dog.1) Don't expect to get any pay raises.2) Don't expect to have a congenial work environment 3) Take everything you are told during job interviews with a grain of salt."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Do everybody a favor and quit already. Get some REAL management in place -- people who are willing to actually MANAGE."

"I learned a lot and got to meet many people with good advice for me."

"Their benefits are good (although the pay sucks)."

"The provost and deans appear to be in a constant war with the faculty. The provost feels that he can randomly fire people. The firings do not appear to be tied to performance in any way: 1) teaching performance 2) external funding 3) publications"
