Parts Manager
in Amsterdam, NY

"This review reflects why I left Brown's Ford for a better opportunity."

What do you like about working at Ford Motor?

"Brown's was new dealership, and I was able to set everything up the way I wanted. Also, they supplied us with excellent computer systems to work with. Clean environment."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be honest."

What don't you like about working at Ford Motor?

"The owner was fearful of the competition and dictated what we could sell parts for, which was below market value. He then complained when profits weren't high enough. Also, was looking for increased wholesale business in a depressed market. We were the biggest shop in town, so we had what market there was. Eventually, my pay plan was altered, which caused me to look for work elsewhere."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Don't be afraid of competition. When a customer comes in for service, it's because they are entrusting their car to YOU. Also, every car usually needs more work than what it came in for, and it's up to management (and techs) to inform the customer. If a customer's brakes need work and they are not informed so, and the brakes fail in a short time, we have been irresponsible."
