IT Consultant
in Philadelphia, PA

"The company wanted me to ma to manage their IT Department, but really I wasn't allowed adequate control. I was also on call, as well as averaging 60 hrs/week."

What do you like about working at FMI International?

"I was able to transform their out-of-date network, and do a complete new rollout, with a new server, new mail server, as well as implementing a security structure throughout their network, and upgrading their telephony structure."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure one has specifics when it comes to expectations for the job: if there is a job title, it needs a better definition, rather than changing it after the employment agreement. Also, benefits need to be documented thoroughly."

What don't you like about working at FMI International?

"They never set proper expectations for deadlines, and the criteria would change. I was also putting in many hours as needed, and when I thought I had administrative authority for purchases via sign-offs and approvals, that would change as well."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I believe the major issue at FMI at that time, was there were too many family members as owners, each having their own agendas, and not coming together with a specific agreement for their IT goals and needs, which were growing too rapidly."
