"Love the culture and miss it everyday. Unfortunately decisions had to be made recently which is not the norm for the bank history but has caused unrest and concern for each employee and there families."

"I began at First National Bank of Omaha as a contracted employee. I was able to advance quickly into a permanent position within the company. First National Bank is a small big Bank. They empower their employees and encourage them to do more. More for themselves and more for our communities that we live in."

First National Bank of Omaha Employee

"An honest assessment"

What do you like about working at First National Bank of Omaha?

"I used to like the family mentality, and the community first attitude that the Bank had. There used to be a real respect for employees that worked hard and there was a two way street of dedication between the employees and the company. First National Bank Omaha, was the premiere place to work in our state, because of the morals and values of the former leaders of the company. Ones success was measured by the merits of ones work, not by politics."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It's a great company and it would be helpful in this arena to either know someone who is connected to the company, or bring something very unique to the table. There isn't much being offered in the way of employment opportunities at the Bank currently."

What don't you like about working at First National Bank of Omaha?

"The philosophy has changed dramatically and the Bank has now gone away from what made it successful. There is no loyalty from the company anymore and they are going away from their community banking basis to a more big bank mentality that will not work in our community. What the Bank is failing to realize is that no matter how much growth is experienced in Omaha, it will always be run and lived in like a small community not a large metropolitan area. The new leadership needs to go back to its roots and invoke some of the old practices which made the company great over the past 150 years."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop trying to re-invent the Bank, and celebrate the fact that you have been a premiere institution for 150 years. Stop trying to utilize six sigma methodologies in a Bank that isn't big enough or sophisticated enough to utilize the practices. Stop thinking because you have someone from an Ivy league school that they automatically understand how to effective tell you how to manage your Bank. Be cautious about this youth movement from a management perspective there is not enough staff with historical knowledge of the Bank to uphold the principles that the Bank was founded on and what made the Bank so successful any more. Most importantly stop the political machine that is ruining the Bank, go back to meritorious service as a marker for employee success."

Business Development Manager

"Good bank needs some work"

What do you like about working at First National Bank of Omaha?

"Great company with great employees, Less than adequate senior management with some room for improvement."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Look to the future. Look to the broader plans. If you don't see any and no one can articulate them to you . . . it's a short term fix to a problem and I be careful"

What don't you like about working at First National Bank of Omaha?

"Family run bank with some what we want to be when we grow up issues. Odd for a 159 year old bank."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Time to grow and expand not contract and run scared."
