They had me learn the Company Operated Retail Store side of the business which was great stuff - I worked in the stores with the managers learning the retail side - afterwards the company slotted me for a store manager position (retail) instead of a district manager or territorial manager position (corporate) so that was not the agreement when I hired on."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"After all the layoffs, I'm sure things have settled down. I'm please to say they hire a lot of people in the military because they follow orders and when working on digs at sea, it's very dangerous. Also, if you are a single male, that's good if you want to travel. You could also have three offices at three different Exxon locations. Experienced hires received more vacation days. But then this is information when I worked there 10 years ago and I am sure after the merger things have changed. The saddest comment I heard was Exxon had an aggressive environment where Mobil was more friendly oriented."
