"Stress from HR management takes a toll on you, when you leave you feel beat up."

What do you like about working at Extron Electronics?

"I enjoyed working with peers within the company, and being employed."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It's so random regarding who is hired and who isn't. The HR manager has the final call, and the recruiters are so afraid of making a mistake, that you're more apt to not hire someone, because of the wrath that comes if you do.I never recommended candidates who were currently employed, because involuntary turn-over is so high, and it makes you feel awful. If you need the job, the secret is, speak clear English, dress professional, no scented lotions or perfumes, don't smell like smoke, and when they ask, tell them you don't smoke, no visible tattoos, (men, clean cut, no long hair, no facial hair, no earrings), (women, same thing, clean cut, do not pull your hair back, or wear a ponytail, no unnatural hair colors, go light on the make-up).The questions are behavioral interview questions, so stay positive, say nothing bad about your current or last employer and agree with whatever crazy things they tell you you're going to have to do."

What don't you like about working at Extron Electronics?

"Flash back to the 80's work environment when it was called the Personnel Department. HR runs the company with an iron hand, and the HR Managers are nothing more than backstabbing bullies, who promote a throw your co-workers under the bus environment, because one wrong move and you're gone within a week. You're expected to fear upper management, which is ridiculous, especially when the owner walks around in jeans, (and he is the ONLY one allowed to wear jeans), and seems extremely nice.I think the most telling policies are a 6 month probationary period, having to clock in and out, (even if you're exempt), being told when you can go to lunch, and with who, business casual, no casual Fridays, not being allowed to take more than 5 days vacation at a time, making it mandatory to attend company summer picnic and holiday lunch, and more.It was good to be employed, the pay is average, (unless you're an engineer), but you leave feeling beat up, and I wouldn't trust anyone there to act as a professional reference. In fact, if HR finds out a manager has written a letter of recommendation or accepted a reference call, trouble soon follows."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I'd suggest the owner take a close look at the HR department and change management. Most managers have been there for 10+ years, which is why I think the company is stuck in the 80's. Just because you've been there a long time, doesn't make you a leader or manager. It makes you a loyal employee, or someone who lacks any ambition to move forward.HR management is corrupt, and thrives on the kick-backs they get from vendors. What kind of Engineering company continues to put weekly full page ads for engineers in the news paper, or spend tens of thousands of dollars on agency hires, instead of letting the recruiters source candidates themselves"
