"A risky proposition that is in steep decline, ERT is a long in the tooth clinical trial software provider with multiple overlapping, antiquated systems. This broad, critical failing is coupled with a complete misunderstanding of how to develop the new software needed to save the business and an enormous number of stagnant employees resistant to any change to the failing status quo."

Cardiac Safety Specialist

"Cardiac Safety Specialist role is extremely repetitive."

What do you like about working at eResearch Technologies?

"Paid well for an entry level job and a good door into the pharmaceutical industry. Department collegues intellegent and great to work with. Generous with work events (Christmas party, Summer events etc.)."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Expect logical testing and team-work tasks. Have some basic understanding of what ECG is."

What don't you like about working at eResearch Technologies?

"Role extremely repetitive with very limited transferrable skills for future jobs. Long hours spent at computer repeating same task, no variation in daily tasks. Very high production targets means every second of day spent at computer, even stopping for a coffee means you will miss goals affecting bonus pay. Shift patterns mean weekend and unsociable working hours likely for Cardiac Safety staff. No interaction with other departments due to total focus on achieving expected production goals."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Provide variation within the role and opportunity for development. Reduce production targets as they are completely unachievable and demoralising for staff."

Systems Architect

"Typical dot-com which relies more on appearance than substance."

What do you like about working at eResearch Technologies?

"The individual contributors and team members are seriously concerned with doing the right thing and making the environment work."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be aware that you will be, if hired, expected to be available 24x7x365, with little authority to make the right decisions, but have to assume responsibility for the outcome, and be second guessed continuously."

What don't you like about working at eResearch Technologies?

"Management of the company is based on micromanagement and chaotic decisions made in the heat of battle, without clear ownership (but assigning of responsibility and blame should things go wrong)."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Consider that because a person may be technically competent, it does not mean that their emotional or human relationship qualities which are needed to be an effective manager are at the same level. Technical excellence does not necessarily (and in many cases doesn't) translate into a good people manager"
