Equipment Operator at Ghiltti Construction
in San Rafael, CA

What do you like about working at Ghiltti Construction?

"Working for GhilottI Construction is like being a paid slave - they do everything but whip you, they are condenscending & yell constantly. Horrible!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"DONT BOTHER, UNLESS YOU GET YOUR JOB OFFER IN WRITING, AND YOUR U ION CONTRACT WILL NOT HELP YOU, THEY WILL JUST SAY THERE IS 'no work' tomorrow, and nxt day, etc, etc...."

What don't you like about working at Ghiltti Construction?

"Treat you wirh absolutely NO respect, you cannot ever do anything right - you have several different supervisors and/or foreman that can't agree on anything, they each want you to do things a different way, then they Scream at you for doing it wrong. You cannot kerp rhem ALL satisfied, its impossible. If you say anything in your own defense, they 'punish' you by not scheduling you for work for days at a time - BUT, they expect you to be available at a moment's notice. You have to ck every night tI see if you are working the next day, with NO explanation when you are not listed. They expect you to go day-by-day never knowing if you will work enough hours to pay your rent, its nerve-wracking. They love the control factor - bunch of egomaniacal wanna-be drill sergeants! The supervisors abs Foremen will literally get right IN your face and SCREAM at you. Its unbelievable, if someone treated their dog like this, they would be arrested for animal cruelty. They know constructiin work is very, very slow right now and they are treating all of their employees like dirt. Worst company ever (gave everyone a 'Ghilotti' keychain (cost maybe 25cents in bulk order) for Xmas gifts one year!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"R U kidding me Read the above, its self-explanatory! You woyld think a company thats been around this long would know better, ie: IF YOUR EMPLOYEES, ALL OF THEM, ARE HAPPY, THE ENTIRE COMPANY BENEFITS! Instead, they apparently hire twice as many employees as they need so they can conveniently lay the ones off that dont like being yelled at, nobody gets the oromised f/t work schedule, so no benefits, constant money worries, STOP TREATING YOUR EMPLOYEES (laborers, drivers, operators, etc) like they are disposable/replaceable....WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS WITH FAMILIES TO SUPPORT, what you do is cruel, as you give out false hope when you hire people, then take it all away - and do NOT blame the employees, these are (almost) all goid, decent, hard working, loyal guys - they just cannot EVER do anything right according to the crazy supervisors on the job sites."
