"In my first year as a structural engineer, I was mostly involved with the design of high rises, parking structures, tenant improvement, mixed-use, and residential buildings. I started with tasks such as reviewing shop drawings and providing structural sketches for RFIs. Later on, I started collaborating to obtain the structural peer review sign off for a 41 story high rise. I designed post-tensioned and reinforced concrete slabs and diaphragms following innovative performance-based design approaches. The most enriching experience was when I formed part of the schematic and design development stages of smaller-scale projects. From developing loading criteria to the design of reinforced concrete and wood gravity and lateral to its foundations. Towards the last two months, I was involved in the architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordinations of the high rise previously mentioned."
