"I am happy not to work at DynaVox anymore, and would never go back."
What do you like about working at DynaVox Technologies?
"I honestly didn't like anything there. The free parking lot, or street parking was OK, if you are lucky enough for a parking pass after 8 months or so. The product is a good concept, but the iPad is killing them. However the device itself is not practical, and weighs 10 pounds."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Ask lots of questions, and when you get to the part of job offer ask LOTS of questions to make sure you understand everything."
What don't you like about working at DynaVox Technologies?
"After being there for a two months I started looking. The people were not very friendly, and management was never willing to help with any job-related issues. there was no team cohesion, and when I asked a question about something I was looked at like I had a horn growing out of my head. I worked on the South Side of the city, and not once did I go out to eat with anyone. I'm a social person, and liked knowing who I'm working with. It was not a good social company at all. No team lunches, happy hours, everyone on my team ate at their desk. I had three managers on a team of 6, and they contradicted each other in front of each other sometimes. I couldn't do anything without having someone hold my hand, and one manager never wanted me or anyone else on the team, to ask our team members for help. VERY micro-managed. I was also lied to during the interview. Part of this is my own fault for not researching more, but I was told the 401 was great. They only matched the first $400 for a calendar year, and that was it. After January I was done contributing for the year."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Stop micro-managing, help your employees when they ask, and try to include them in other team functions. I felt like such an outcast because I actually made eye-contact with people in the hall, and said hi to them."
What do you like about working at DynaVox Technologies?
"I was the art department, and was called upon for many varied things. I was given a lot of leeway in designing the catalog. Plus advertising, promotional materials and the trade show displays. I was able to use my creativity on a daily basis."
What don't you like about working at DynaVox Technologies?
"They took a long time to make a decision, then it was crunch time!"
