"Good place to work, left because I could not get graduate school funding. Worked there 1987-1992---not 1995"

"I worked there 1987-1992, and they did not fund me to go to graduate school, after getting accepted to good schools two years in a row, so I took a leave ofabscence, and never went back. Perhaps they would have funded me forsomething else--I don't know--but I did not think of that then."

What don't you like about working at Digital Equipment Corp.?
"The company was not competitive with compensation. I left the company after having my work and sacrificed family time stolen by the vice president and handed on a platter to her friend who never set foot in the actual lab to do the work. Then I was offered a choice to few groups as a technical lead to cover up the dishonesty. I left the firm at this point after taking losing my faith in quality ownership as a proud employee of a great company and product lines."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I often spent my weeknights and weekends diligently working in a freezing lab to beat IBM/SUN/HP/Intel/etc. benchmark numbers with my own Alpha generated scores. I even won the Sun workstation of the year award with my benchmark numbers. I always put Alpha as #1 in front of all other competition because of my work for months at a time in the lab while learning how to make a bed out of three desk chairs. It would have been nice if management did not supposedly make a typing mistake and promote the wrong person siting and quoting my work and results as justification. Although I moved on to bigger and better opportunities, Alpha no longer captured the top spot after losing resource that did the work. I'd recommend a more accurate and fair performance / reward system for the hard working employees."
"Appears to get confused as to what employers were when."
What do you like about working at Digital Equipment Corp.?
"Close to home. I like manufacturing environments and the feel of success as a new product rolls out."
What don't you like about working at Digital Equipment Corp.?
"Salary was low compared to the market."
