Virtual Machine Manager
in Central, UT

"Locking the barn after the horse has been stolen, think ahead and not when things get bad. TRAINING. COMMUNICATION."

What do you like about working at DFS Group?

"The people hired were excellent. Okinawa is the best place in the world to live. I would return in a heartbeat."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Interview the store manager carefully with the goal to see if he/she is capable of solving minor and major difficulties all while keeping the company culture in tact. The culture of the company is unclear and anybody's guess as you go forward."

What don't you like about working at DFS Group?

"Lack of communication and structure of the company.Having two conflicting bosses, one in Okinawa, the other in HK proved to be disastrous and ultimately my leaving the position. This is 100% unfair to those you hire. There is no training program for managers and the store manager was less than qualified to handle the constant change of a luxury environment. The company culture suffered from this a great deal and brought the luxury level to a pedestrian level. It is no longer anything special. No reason to buy."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Rethink your structure and build communications. (Something I suggested while working there and unfortunately happened after I had departed.)Communication` from the Brands to the stores was lose at best and lacked direction. Most of the time communications sat on the desks of the merchants until it was too late to rectify. I tried explaining this to the current store manager but he was far too busy covering his own tail to care."
