Director of Career Services

"Hopefully this review makes it to DeVry."

What do you like about working at DeVry University?

"Working for DeVry was on most occasions cutting edge. A majority of the initiatives set in place exceeded all industry expectations that I had never seen at none of the companies that I had previously worked at. Specifically adding the minimum salary aspect for students and, the employer data which made it easier for employers to search and interview for viable candidates through the use of assigned passwords. Pure genius."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Clarify what the position is and composed of before accepting any offers. When first approached (via telephone) by HR, I was informed of one thing and upon hiring and starting it turned out to be another."

What don't you like about working at DeVry University?

"Many of the programs such as GSP (Gaming Simulation Programming) was rushed into and not properly researched which caused severe problems and issues on the back-end to Career Services. Campus locations and demographics should have been taken into consideration. Many campuses were doomed from the start when this program was implemented. Also, many initiatives such as departmental staffing were (in my opinion) over-analyzed to the point where I become frustrated. Not having the staff to complete the tasks at hand caused many days of unnecessary anguish."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"When asking for feedback from the staff, do not just go through the motions to suffice the masses. Listen."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you're looking for a job to put food on the table, apply for the highest paying position you're qualified for and that you'd enjoy."

What don't you like about working at DeVry University?

"The pay was kind of low. The highest paying student position started at $8.00/hr. That's more of a funding issue, though, but it was still barely enough to pay bills if it was a person's only job."
