Desktop Publisher at Dell

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"The day I quit working for Dell was one of my favorite days ever."

What do you like about working at Dell?

"It was a good experience to learn how to work at a large company in a cubicle environment. I learned how to easily crank out business-style designs for brochures and for online training material. I also learned to work with tech-minded people, and gained expertise on a Windows platform."

What don't you like about working at Dell?

"My co-workers were fairly closed-minded and like-minded. I experienced a sexual harassment by my manager, which was very uncomfortable and difficult to navigate. I continued to contract for Dell for several years after the incident, despite the fact that a few of my co-workers blamed me for having their 'friend' fired. The culture at Dell is uniquely unpleasant, and they have a tendency to abuse employees' and vendors' time and expertise. I had several projects where I was expected to stay on-location for over 24 hours in a war-room working and was ridiculed for billing a higher rate for overnight work. They are also not always great at paying on time, and have a record of using contractors to skirt labor laws."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to your team. Don't promote problem people out of your department, they just make more people miserable wherever they land. Use common sense."
