Desert Security Services Employee

"Management is horrible and unorganized. They are disrespectful and will talk down to you (which include dispatchers). They literally will hire anyone, which in a way isn't all that great because you will run into some guards who sleep, leave early and leave their post. One thing every guard complains about is scheduing. Hardly ever steady hours and always unpredictable when calling for schedule. You may have hours one week and the next week you won't. Always changing hours around and will call you telling you, you are going to work instead of asking when on days off... On the Bright Side. People you meet out at different sites are wonderful. You will make friends and Some Posts are better than others in a fun interesting way. Easy Job"

"Only work for DSS if you are desperate for a job."

What do you like about working at Desert Security Services?

"Not much to like about the company other than that once you start working for the company they pay for your phase 2 and phase 3 training courses but they keep the originals. You will have to pay them for it."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Just have a guard card and you will practically get in."

What don't you like about working at Desert Security Services?

"Where to start Pretty much everything. The company doesnt give adequate training for guards and they will hire anyone with a guard card. DSS basically just puts a uniform on a live body and send them to a destined site to watch over it. Some sites require more work than others but either way all guards start off with mimimum wage. Some sites are much farther than others (40-80miles) and the company doesnt reimburse for gas. The company also has a schedule check policy where you have to call in between 10 in the morning to 10 at night every saturday. If you miss a call then you get suspended without pay for the week and if you do it a 2nd time you will get terminated immediately."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make your employees feel proud to work for the company. Give them small bonues for christmas checks. Give them holiday pay for memorial day, veterans day, and labor day. Finally when you have a company picnic invite the entire company not just the dispatchers and sergeants."
