"If you want to have a personal life, stay away. 60+ hour weeks are considered standard. Working less than this number of hours will be held against you when your receive your review."

"The company does not have any processes in place that control product definition. New features are added by marketing right up to the release date."

"Stop looking for the silver bullet, today's silver bullet is tomorrows tarnished relic. Involve your engineers in the product definition and scheduling phases."

"Ask for more vacation than they're offering. You'll need it."

What don't you like about working at Curtiss-Wright?

"Unrealistic deadlines. Poor planning by management to staff development teams with a good mix of senior and junior staff, so senior staff do lots of tasks that could be done by less skilled engineers. This wastes time of senior staff. Expectations are that jobs must be completed when assigned regardless of workload. 50 hour work weeks are the norm with pressure to do more."

"Pay attention to staff loading. Keep assignments equal among staff and deadlines realistic."
