2.9I've worked at Curtiss Wright Enertech for over seven years.
Management has a lack of vision in the aftermath of Fukushima, Japan. Promises and assurances were made to the employees, but still layoffs occurred (five rounds so far).
An example of bad management is the operations manager. Perhaps he's a good engineer, but he's not a good manager or has any business aptitude. By laying off experienced workers in favor of newer and less experienced ones is just not smart. Plus, when your recent hires tend to be mostly based on your ethnic group or suggestions from close friends and not on qualifications/experience, something is not right. Perhaps, it's for the monetary bonus for getting people hired into the company. And that's probably why the company is failing. And the worst part is that the rest of management and HR turns a blind eye. There is also a lack of promotional opportunities unless you're in the inner circle.
On the plus side, there are good and hard working people that will perform above and beyond to fill the gaps. But in the end, it's all about connections and favoritism.
1.6I have worked for Curtiss-Wright for several years and have seen a promising company deteriorate into an abusive sweatshop. I have heard sr. management actually refer to this office as "The Sweatshop". Need I say more about how you will be valued here? And, make sure you can work miracles with no tools, systems, support or guidance from your manager who continually fails to understand simple English. And if you are a woman, be prepared to work hard and stay quiet. Gotta let the boys take the lead and then you will have to clean up the mess afterward.
3.1Curtiss-Wright as the company is very investor-oriented and will do anything to satisfy them including cut good talent. It's really a shame because the people that work there are amazing and very fun, caring, and kind-hearted. The facility I worked had a very family-oriented environment. If someone is looking for a place to work that makes you feel welcome then Curtiss-Wright is the company to work for. However, don't expect to be compensated fairly for the efforts you put in. Expect to make around 20k less than the national average of your typical manufacturing/process engineering position.
