"I was expected to do the work of three people at the front desk because we were chronically understaffed. The morale was very low so people quit frequently and management was not quick to replace them because cutting the labor budget was always a top priority."

"I would have not made employees feel like were constantly being discussed behind closed doors and created a more open, less conspiratorial working environment."

"It's a great opportunity to network, and the perk of discounted rooms at other Marriott properties is very nice."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Entry level positions are abound. Easiest to get started in Housekeeping as either a Room Attendant or Houseperson. As for the interview, easiest just to be as personable as possible. Hotels in general like their employees to be genial and knowledgeable about the area."
What don't you like about working at Courtyard ?
"At my property the current operations manager does not delegate down work that could be easily handled by the employees. Nor do they give the employees any power. Every action has to be run through a manager, who is not easily accessible due to the workload they put upon themselves. Due to this we unfortunately get a lot of upset guests who want to speak with an unavailable manager."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Unfortunately, my direct manager tends to warp the truth slightly, so I would be more truthful with the guests and employees."
