It must be like wishing you could work for Disney, only to discover the "soul-crushing" that goes on there. I love my job, but JPL scientists are crappy managers and engineers. They are not good with "people"."

"The one negative is a certain level of uncertainty. But then again, that can be overcome to some point by work experience and knowledge and possessing skill sets that would make you desirable to keep around. Additionally, one typically gets compensated more as a contract engineer. Being a contract engineer has the benefit of not being tied down to any one company. Also, there is no competition for career advancement, thereby allowing the contract engineer to solely concentrate on the work."

"If you can not have fun at what you do; Then you are doing something wrong."

"My cubicle was by the window so I got hot in the Summer."

"They just needed to keep doing what they did. Nothing is perfect but they did a very good job of running the business."
