There is/was also a lack of foresight that has prevented hiring of new talent leading to a stagnation of the intellectual environment and stretched teams."

"Stop over-optimizing market strategies and investment in your future. To be a technology leader, you have to have a significant focus on driving change, and not entirely on meeting/predicting near term customer and market needs."

"I was allowed to plan my own approach to the program design. I got to work with JAVA and do technology transfers to C# which gave me a very good appreciation for the differences."

"The company is very involved with DOCIS testing of cable TV systems, review this requirement and be ready to explain how you would use the documentation to design your code."

"Management was unsupportive and mostly missing when needed to support the product release. The company was also going through a merger and the department goals were evaporating as well as their support for previous schedules."

"Get on the ball and know the current status of your departmental software. Don't leave it up to your subordinates to form communications with the other departments. Be available for support needs."
