What do you like about working at Commerce Energy?

"I liked when I first worked there: calling on small business, training for the markets to be serviced, training on how the electricity energy functions. It provided a better understanding of the services offered so I can effectively sell them. It was a pleasure to work with my first manager, Phil Minick."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure the interviewer doesn't smell like alcohol and he bathed recently.Read the business section. Study up on gas and oil futures. Sound like an expert. If it's for customer service, look elsewhere."

What don't you like about working at Commerce Energy?

"The rest of it! The maturity of the customer service/Inside sales staff are immature, catty, and do not like smart, educated people like me. My new manager was threatened when I was taking continuing education courses. Upper management disrespected the front end employees. The director of the call center was an alcoholic, and should have been fired sooner. The new CEO was not honest. It was a very stressful environment, and was releived when I got laid off. No one from inside sales was allowed opportunities for another field, which was a shame, as I wanted to start over in marketing."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"1) Grow up and take a leadership class2) No favoritism! Why glorify the stoned/ditzy employees3) Better hiring practices. The majority of the staff didn't know how to do their job, and shouldn't have been hired.4) Better training. See #35) Provide advancement opportunities to employees that contributed and helped grow the department. Steve Ritnour, Mike Habbas, and I could have been promoted for everything we did."

What do you like about working at Commerce Energy?

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Best of luck, you are going to need it."

What don't you like about working at Commerce Energy?

"The leads were horrendous, the company was very partial to certain employees."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Treat everyone the same as you would like to be treated. Don't be partial to certain employees, treat every employee fairly. Make sure your lead giver has some validity to his list of potential customers."
