"Cliffs is a company with great potential, but is strongly tied to the market for global iron ore. While it has diversified into materials that support the steel industry, all of those commodities are in a supply glut, making it difficult to pull a profit from sales outside the US. The current management team is strong, however the former management team made some poor spending decisions outside their risk tolerance leading to significant overspending and the company is cash strapped."
