District Administrator

"Sad, but true."

What do you like about working at Clark County School District?

"Getting out of my office to visit with teachers at the area elementary, middle and high schools. Considering the below-market compensatory packages they receive, unsafe security conditions under which they must work, as well as district-level bureaucracy that inhibits their classroom needs, their dedication to their students' needs is nothing short of heroic. Sadly, turnover rate for teachers is one of the highest in the nation, but fear, frustration and early burnout become inevitable conclusions of the above-mentioned pressures."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't settle; keep looking; run in the other direction."

What don't you like about working at Clark County School District?

"Plainly and simply stated, there is an a complete absence of concern at the Associate Superintendent level, as well as several key departmental heads for assuring the successful matriculation of every CCSD student and replaced it with attaining their own politically-based, selfishly-fueled agendas. I know how disturbing and absurd this sounds, but I witness it on a daily basis. Their focus is not on student-based needs, but rather on their own career advancement. And at this district, on that level, advancing one's career has nothing to do with the successful administration of education."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"That's a moot issue at this point. Unless there is a miraculous shakeup and replacement of the top movers and shakers then CCSD will continue to retain their deserved last place ranking in number of graduating students, a distinction they've successfully maintained for years."
