"Good engineering department atmosphere, but lacking in compensation."

What do you like about working at CHL Systems?

"The office atmosphere is very relaxed. I worked mainly for the steel mill side of the engineering department, and it was filled with very talented and friendly personnel."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"When offering you the job, they consider your holiday bonus and profit sharing payments (twice a year) as part of salary, but had suspended both due to the economy, and have made adjustments to it (usually reducing them). Only seven paid holidays, and they are stingy on the vacation side of things. Their health benefits have improved, but still require the employee to pay a large share of them. The managers in the engineering department will work with you when dealing with personal issues, and are very tolerant, and the atmosphere for the most part is comfortable. But management beyond that may make you feel like you are just a warm body needed to get the job done and they really don't care about you."

What don't you like about working at CHL Systems?

"The engineering department was rather divided, not allowing individuals to grow because they were sent to one side or the other and not allowed to cross over."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"CHL needs to be less stingy on total compensation, and needs to better manage the engineering departments development."
