"The director in the instrument engineering group is fake and bad. But she is super good at playing politics and puts on a nice face in front of people, until you get to know the problems, that is. She practices favoritism and biases, very probably attributed to her own fear and past experiences, so said she, that people ignored her because of her gender. But guess what, that doesn’t justify practicing favoritism and biases at work. Worse than that is that she retaliates against her direct report when he defends his functional needs and interests. She pretends that it’s the direct report’s fault of not being flexible or not maintaining positive communications, despite that it has been her playing politics and favoritism and ignoring the direct report. She then manipulates information and intentionally messes with the performance review. When pointed out what she did wrong, she plays stalling tactics and never fixes the problem. Most people know that she is very weak in technical. But she seeks to form alliances with those who have political power and have the authority to promote her. She knows politics is the only way for her to stay with the company and climb the ladder."
