What do you like about working at Century 21 Department Stores?

"Their is not much to like about working at C21. Upper management do not really know what is going on It is a sexist/racist environment. They mostly hire/promote dumb snubby white girls to administrative positions. Majority of the cashiers and sales associates are african american. Management love to yell and blame the floor team members. Customers are often rude and disrespectful. Lunch is only 30 minutes, by the time you leave your work station, walk through the busy store, get patted down by security, grab your food; lunch is over."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Do not expect much. It is a jewish family owned business and it's going to stay that way."

What don't you like about working at Century 21 Department Stores?

"In the past three years, the company has significantly reduced the number of department managers; and replaced them with inexperienced/low paying supervisors. Not to say that some of these supervisors are terrible, but they are inexperienced employees who really do not care for the business. The pay is very very little, compared to the amount of work involved. Store managers are constantly pushing the staff to work more, by increasing their work load. One employee's responsibilities would be equal to that of three or four team members. The store does not have enough staff to handle the volume of work needed. The company is constantly sending administrative managers/suditors to harass us. First the buyers and/or coordinators will work the floor and give the floor managers/supervisors hell. They act like they are better than everyone with their noses in the air. Auditors specifically come to the store just to look for any kind of negative action. Hello, it is a busy retail establishment of course not every fixture is going to be nice and neat. The company should be thank ful that the store is busy. I could go on and on."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"This is a family owned business that started very small and grew to what it is today. If I was running the show, I would look back and see what allowed the business to strive and grow The answer to that is its dedicated and loyal staff (those who have working for the company for 15+ years). These people know what is needed to create sales and increase profits. As CEO, I would get some feed back from these individuals and learn something. The company must stop coming down on its employees just because not enough customers signed up for their loyalty program."
