"I worked at Centerpoint for a few months and it was a pleasant place to work. My team and supervisor were encouraging and did not micromanage the work I implemented. The management team provided an atmosphere that did not hinder my self-esteem or working style."

"Center Point Energy is a company that is great for a young professional. The initial 5 years of your career will be steady and relatively stress free with the opportunity to immerse yourself in the gas industry. The opportunities are bountiful if you are willing to move at the drop of a hat."

"The company was once a good company -- it had it's faults, certainly. (Chief among them being vastly below-market compensation, the ugliest office space imaginable, lack of flexibility on the part of management, lack of caring or motivation on the part of senior management, "not my problem" mentality, close-mindedness and inflexibility towards change born from monopoly-related "can do no wrong" mentality). However, more recently, the company demonstrated a willingness to treat its long-time employees like dirt in exchange for profits. Case in point: the recent acquisition of Vectren, Inc. All of Vectren's employees who were laid off, without exception, were given a 2-year severance package. CNP's own employees not only got laid off (who lays off their own people in an out-of-state acquisition?) but received a package that was at least 4 times worse than Vectren's employees. Because, clearly, the other company's employees are 4 times more valuable than your own. The senior management then proceeded to give themselves a raise. Typical corporate greed. There really is no good reason to work for them."

"I have been a CO-OP for CenterPoint for multiple semesters and the biggest asset this company has is its culture. As a CO-OP, they will assist you with everything even if you don't know much of the concept. You have to have the drive to learn. Most employees stay here for years because the company takes the extra mile to help their employees. Only bad thing is that there are very limited resources to go up the management ladder."
