"Don't go into technical support unless you are able to do the job without training."
What don't you like about working at Cengage Learning?
"Management micro-manages. When an employee thinks outside the box, they are shot down.They describe themselves as innovative, but clearly they are not. If management was not there at all, it would be a decent place to work.The training department is lacking, and very basic. The training is not all encompassing of what you need to do the job, and when you are through with training, they expect you to know the entire job. Mistakes are not tolerated and result in discipline and threats."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Get on the same page. Stop stomping on your employees. When you make a mistake, you should be held to the same standard as when your employees make mistakes. This is curently not the case. It makes for a miserable work environment. Also management, do not yell at your employees. That is very unprofessional. Again, if you were held to the same standard you hold your employees to, you would have been fired by now."
