"I was very excited of working at Celera since we were making revolutionary progress in decoding the human genome!"

"I hired all my people in my team. The major tips would be to be honest, and to show ambitiousness."

What don't you like about working at Celera?

"Nothing really. If I have to say something negative, then there seemed to be disageement on the overall direction of the company. Our CSO Dr. Craig Venter is a scientist, and spent a lot of time in science problems while our parent company, Applera at that moment, wanted to focus more on business development."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"There must be a consensus on the major target of a company. Once this consensus is made, the management should stick to it, until next revision when there are major problems with the target."
