What do you like about working at Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh?
"I enjoy working in an organization with people from such diverse backgrounds."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"This organization has a noble mission and a well known reputation for research and education. If you are interested in one of these fields then this is the place that you want to be. However there is very little money here for salaries. Cost of living raises are given only every third year and there are few chances for advancement. Be willing to work weekends and nights as the museums are often open at odd hours."
What don't you like about working at Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh?
"The Carnegie Institute is very top heavy and allocates few resources towards staff development. There is no sense of teamwork between departments or museums and there is a lack of leadership in upper management positions. Often times, management choices seem to be emotional or political choices with little value placed on research. The hierarchy of this organization is not clearly defined."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Invest in staff development. Since there isn't enough money to create new positions spend what you have on increasing staff efficiency."
