"Terrible corporate culture that insists on reinventing the wheel every year and firing faculty and other student-facing services right before Christmas (three years running) despite profitability and share buybacks. Leadership style is highly secretive (faculty are not permitted to know how many students are enrolled, the retention rate, etc.) and autocratic. Faculty have zero say about anything. Full-time graduate level faculty are expected to teach 36 students per class, 4 classes per semester, with weekly or almost weekly assignments due in each, the preferred turnaround time for which is 48 hours. Faculty work on weekends, leadership does not (leadership works M-Th). Faculty get no PTO or FTO, leadership get unlimited paid time off. Faculty have no upward mobility within the company and are chronically overworked, as are academic coaches. Nepotism and favoritism prevail in the leadership rungs, while fear is king among faculty and other support roles. Management is bloated and inefficient, and unable strategize more creatively around boosting the bottom line than firing those beneath them. Flex Path courses and enrollments are being pushed, and since admissions/enrollment for those courses is rolling, the faculty that teach them get no time off ever. Burnout is extreme, fear is rampant, and rewards are slim to nil."

"I've been in IT at Capella for about 8 years. Well, sometimes I'm in IT, sometimes I'm not -- it seems they reorganize every 6 months or so. That has been frustrating, because I have been in the same job but have had many different managers, supervisors, team names, and reporting structures. This has caused morale to be fairly low."
