"I have worked for the California Department of Transportation since April of 2018. I have worked in two different units, and both units were great to worth with. The employees were helpful and taught me how they work with engineering in their field. I have worked in Encroachment Permits and then for Traffic Operations. I was able to see the difference in work for each unit. It was easy to get along with and loved to catch up with employees as I would see them."

What do you like about working at Caltrans?

"I enjoyed learning from experienced IT personnel. I believe the student assistant program was a great benefit and I learned a lot from my supervisor."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be honest and exceptional, and research the company prior to the interview."

What don't you like about working at Caltrans?

"I believe the compensation could have been better for the type of work that we were doing, but I understand that as a student worker, you have to gain experience either paid or un-paid in order to be successful in a full-time position."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I believe that the student assistant program is extremely necessary in building the talent for the future, I would make a suggestion to make sure the program stays funded."
