Brown University Careers & Info

Brown University
Overview Brown University is one of the nation's most prestigious universities. This elite Ivy League school is located in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 1764, Brown was originally called the College of Rhode Island. It is the country's seventh oldest college. It was one of the first colleges to accept students from all religious denominations. The school is named in honor of alumni member Nicholas Brown. Mr. Brown donated $5,000 to the school in 1804.

Today, the school has an international reputation for educational and research excellence. Brown enrolls approximately 8,500 undergraduate and graduate students. Known as PAE, the Plan for Academic Enrichment provides students with a unique, challenging and comprehensive curriculum. A key feature of PAE is that students are allowed more freedom to pursue their own educational goals rather than be forced to follow a fixed set of coursework. Academically, Brown ranks in the upper echelon of universities around the world.
