"Excellent team of people, both career and local, stationed at one of the most historical embassies in Washington DC. The team is diverse, committed, and exceptional in the collective knowledge of their experience. Truly an honor to serve with them. They treat their people well. Good pay and excellent benefits. It might be the first place I worked where I felt like an actual human being. For an early or mid-career professional, I couldn't recommend the British Embassy highly enough. Few areas where they could improve/to be aware: - Little to no formal onboarding or adjustment process for getting to know the team. Very much trial by fire, which was par for the course in my experience. - Learning and development would be more effective if it meant earning meaningful and even transferable credentials. - Not too much room to move up for local hires. Though I'm not sure there is much to be done given the necessary career-nature of much of the work at senior levels."
"Working at the British Embassy is an honor. The job is meaningful and they really value diversity and inclusion. In addition, flexible work style is highly encouraged."
