"CalSTRS is the 8th largest public sector retirement system in the world - serving over 800,000 retired teachers in California. CalSTRS provides retirement, disability and survivor benefits for full-time and part-time California public school educators. Their primary pension solution system is obsolete and required innovate technology to keep current with today's growing retiree population. The have a strong leadership training program and a quasi-mature project management office and associated processes. I was able to share my love for building a quality management program at both the project and the enterprise level, and in return, I learned about pension systems and eligibility calculations based on actuarial tables. They hire consultants for short-term work as needed with plenty of opportunities for contract-to-hire. They also have a progressive student assistant program, partnering with Cal State University. They are located in West Sacramento on the riverfront in a beautiful, environmentally sustainable building."
