Ben's Deli Employee Job Reviews in the United States

"I was employed by Ben's Deli for several years and the blatant disregard for their employees is deplorable. The fact that management and upper management actually threaten the employees daily isn't bad enough, but the verbal abuse is intolerable. Name calling, racial slurs and vulgarity are thrown around so often that I could not believe my ears. Not to mention the sexual suggestions and comments are criminal. The upper management actually encourages regular management to change the times employees clock in without their knowledge. Paychecks are constantly off by different amounts EVERY week in some form or another. Accounting never corrects anything unless you keep detailed records of hours and tips and bring it to THEIR attention first. Managers use personal devices to photograph and copy confidential employee documents and send them to who knows where. Managers divulge personal employee information or situations to other employees openly as either a joke or gossip. The constant screaming and yelling of management is a common occurrence in front of customers and employees daily. Racial slurs are a daily occurrence as well. Employees are told if you don't like it, leave. In one location there are signs hung around the restaurant suggesting that one race is more superior to another. This corporation is out of control. I have never seen such a blatant disregard of employees' feelings and rights. The management brags that they never have paid out an unemployment case because they would never pay someone to lay on the couch at home while they had to work. They implemented a program that helps previously incarcerated people to get back on their feet but then exploit them by working long hours at a lower pay and then belittle them by calling them names. They charge the servers for the credit card processing fees for all charged transactions, then tax the tips. I cannot believe no one has complained about this company previously. Stay far away from this place!!"

"Employed at restaurant for over 2 years. Quite possibly one of THE WORST workplaces I have ever encountered. Management and upper management constantly berate and threaten employees on a daily basis in front of customers as well as other employees. Told to get out if you have a problem with that. Management using personal devices to photograph and send confidential employee information to unknown sources. Name calling and sexual innuendos are a daily occurrence and done in front of customers. Employees feel job security is threatened if anyone complains or questions management. Terrible work environment and overall vibe. Beware!!"
