What do you like about working at Belk?

"The flexible schedule. As long as you could give about 2 weeks in advance you could typically get asked days off."

What don't you like about working at Belk?

"The schedule (touche). You may work the afternoon shift one day and the morning shift the next day. Employees call in sick or no show alot."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Drop the hammer on employees that are no call no shows."

"Not any leadership training or opportunities for education assistance. Not any real structure from a organizational standpoint. Balancing work and family life. There would be days no production and I had to have managers basically sitting around looking at each other."

"More structure and educational and leadership training. Not a very comfortable working environment."

"When company was re-aliened the new division assigned to the Gulf Coast did not understand the area and did not try to understand."

"Better Sales planning. Creative advertising do not always use news papers to convey the message to customers."

"The Employee is the last to be considered. First, think Management, then Labor percentages, then think of all the tasks that they want you to do, then the hours they actually give you to do it. Not realistic for any field."

"If your employees are happy, you have a better atmosphere for employees, customers and overall better productivity."

"My main advice would be to promote from within and reward superior results. My secondary advice would be to place a little more trust in the Buyers to make the right decisions."
