What do you like about working at Bank Hapoalim?

"I was able to use my experience to make a difference. I developed new procedures; like automating the funding process, developing front-office risk reporting systems and streamlining the off-balance sheet liquidity exposure. I hired and trained junior traders, who went on to be profitable, ethical contributors to the firm, I was instrumental in bringing the front-office and back-office together in a better working environment by establishing better communication and mutual respect."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Emphasize your ability to cross-function; as this is a small company and sometimes you are required to fill-in in other areas, or support different functions."

What don't you like about working at Bank Hapoalim?

"The bank is Israeli, and most of the employees are from Israel. I don't speak Hebrew, in fact, I'm not Jewish; so I felt a glass-celing, so to speak, and felt I would never be able to rise within the company."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The management should develop a more-inclusive social environment, hiring a more diversified staff and encouraging that diversity."
