"Love the animals, and most of my co-workers, dislike the favoritism that is rampant and the fact that the "mean" people seem to be the favorite. The main doctors are great though, and very, very helpful to new people."
"I've worked for this company for 12 years. My various bosses over the years have taken advantage of my open availability. Working long hours, no breaks/lunches. Overbooking every day to meet expected numbers from corporate. It is very clear I am just a number to them. No "job well done" given."
"Work/life balance can be difficult"
"I've worked for Banfield for almost 3 years and it does it's best to advocate for the health of animals. Depending on the location, they strive for the quality of pets vs the quantity; and they teach the public as best they can about preventative care of pets. It's a pleasure working for a company and doctors that strive for better helth care for animals."
"Working for Banfield provided me with the ability to continue my legal education while doing something I am passionate about. I am very grateful for such an opportunity."
"I’ve worked for Banfield now going on 5 years, it’s a good company in terms of the benefits you receive, the atmosphere at times and the company’s goal. But I regards to growing, it’s a bit hard to do so. I notice with most Banfield’s in order for you to move up you have to have friends in high places"
"Banfield, as a whole, does not respect their employees. Any previous experience an employee has isn't taken seriously as the training programs are directed towards any random person coming in. Corporate cares more about making money than they do about caring for clients and patients. Employees of Banfield are expected to devote their entire lives to the company and very little free time is available to staff outside of work. Some hospitals are horrendously understaffed, corporate does absolutely nothing to help those hospitals. Banfield would rather sacrifice proper animal care/services and employee well-being in order to allow for a bigger profit. Communication is nonexistent. Monthly staff meetings are pointless and even more free time is taken from employees. The company is inconsistent and money hungry."
"I admired the Banfield & Mars environment that encourages a value system of respect, integrity, involvement, and growth."
"Banfield does not appear interested in pet care and more about the bottom line. I understand that it is a business, but it is sad how much they are willing to sacrifice for money. The sacrifices that affect the hospitals include life/work balance, salary/hourly pay, increased number of pets per day (thus decreasing amount of time with each pet/client), and staff turnover. I (and the rest of the staff) are treated like garbage by the Chief of Staff and her malice is ignored by her superiors."
