What do you like about working at Auriga Polymers?
"The work was not difficult. Coworkers were not bad, mostly. Plenty of hours with occasional opportunity for overtime."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be friendly and professional. With formal education and especially with experience it shouldn't be too difficult to get a job there. They hire through Staffmark, but they may keep you on contract for longer than they say when they offer the job. For a lab tech position at Auriga, there are three tiers of operator and the pay increases with each tier. Top tier was about $17/hr which, while not awful, is still below the national average for a lab tech position (~$46,000/yr = ~$21/hr). The work is fairly simple and is repetitive but health hazards are prevalent. The precautions to try to be safe implemented by the company can be ridiculous and misguided. Employees don't report small accidents, so you either need to be willing to play THAT game or expect to come out looking incompetent if you report what you're supposed to."
What don't you like about working at Auriga Polymers?
"The work was incredibly repetitive and intellectually stagnating. The pay was not very good (about 33% less than the national average for a lab tech position). The commute was about 40-45minutes. The offer was made through a staffing agency and the employer said it was a temp-to-hire position in 90 days. After about 4.5 and 5.5 months I asked about being hired on and was told that they could not give me a definitive answer about when that might be. I put in my two weeks notice after the second time I had this conversation with my manager."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would want to have the first-hand experience and competence to do the jobs that I was responsible for managing."
