in Plant City, FL

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"challenge of a lifetime"

What do you like about working at Hillsborough County Public Schools?

"At individual middle schools and high schools, RN/teachers are usually work alone or with one other RN. Flexibility, ability to learn computer skills, break into a beginning teacher role and have a great impact on the lives of future health care professionals is very exciting. Autonomous classroom freedom and attention to detail are needed. Watching each student grow individually is encouraging. Students become attached to us and many would not have graduated without intensive teacher support. Consider this job as a calling."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Most people genuinely like nurses and once you show your personality and caring attitude to help students learn, you'll be hired!"

What don't you like about working at Hillsborough County Public Schools?

"The pay scale is the best around central Fl but is still far below what hospital nurses command, but paychecks of the heart are received as one former student performed CPR on a choking infant, and many go on to nursing school."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Understand that RN/teachers are RN's first and the educational lingo is sometimes overwhelming. We need help with teacher protocols not necessarily content training"
