Aspiro Employee

"I worked for Aspiro Adventure in 2018-2019. I found the ground staff that worked with the students to be passionate, caring and amazing at the work they do. It is odvious they love their work and love supporting the students. Upper management does not communicate well and seems to careless about the people that work for them. They are more concerned about the dollar the dollar. The pay is competitive and the benefits are decent."

What do you like about working at Aspiro?

"I loved my co-workers on all levels. They were positive, hardworking, and focused on the goals of Aspiro. I really enjoyed working in my field of study and working with the students. There were lots of opportunities to share one's ideas to help improve programming. Aspiro hired the best and expected a great deal from their employees. For a wilderness program it did not have a very high turnover rate because people wanted to stay with a good company. I had some wonderful opportunities to grow as a Recreational Therapist by participating in our monthly family seminars. I worked with very capable and professional people that constantly taught me."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be efficient in survival and outdoor skills as well as clinical skills."

What don't you like about working at Aspiro?

"A job that keeps you away eight days at a time proved to be difficult for me. I got to a point where I wanted to have a relationship but it was very difficult to do that when I was gone so much. On top of that there was the emotional and mental side of the job. Day in and day out you would be working with a variety of kids with a variety of issues. It began to take a toll on me. I felt discouraged in my own life and found it difficult to uplift our students when I was not uplifting myself. At the time that I left Aspiro, I had been working in that industry for 4 years. I was tired, emotionally, physically, and mentally. I did not feel effective."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest additional positions where possible that are not field guide positions. It is a great company, I wish I could still be a part of it."
