"I've worked for Arlington County Government for about 6 months now and I can say that the staff here is very friendly and diligent when getting their work done. Everyone here is always willing to lend a helping hand and the office space is just right."

"Work at your own risk!"

What do you like about working at Arlington County Government?

"I liked working with the small group of people in our particular section, all physicians and nurses. All were very competent. Even the admin people were far more competent than those we had to interact with in the other areas. The benefits package was very good, especially the program they had for people who were approaching retirement age."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Black or Brown assertive professionals need not apply, at least in the Dept of Human Services"

What don't you like about working at Arlington County Government?

"RACISM-- sometimes blatant, but always there. Those minorities who did not act like they knew how to stay in their place were targeted by the director of the behavioral health program for dismissal/removal. This was easy to do because the probationary period was for one year. They have kept a very small core of docile minorities to prove their diversity and inclusiveness."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Removal of the Director of Human Services and the Director of Behavioral Health/Executive Director of CSB. Incompetent in the Dept of Human Services. Rewards and promotions for the worst managers. Supporting those who have proven dangerous, i.e. involved in covering up serious harm/death to patients. This level of cover up goes up to the top, including the County manager and some of the County board. It is ridiculous that this level of incompetence is that blatant in a government so close to the nation's capital. Health care standards are conveniently overlooked many times."
