Working at Arconic in New Kensington, PA: 3 Employee Reviews

Arconic Employee

"I worked for Arconic for over two years. In that time, the company has undergone restructuring 3 times, under three different leaders with the goal of increasing share prices in a short period of time. There is a real lack of stability and consistency in the direction and you can’t get any feel for long term position or strategy, and the ever-shrinking resource pool leaves gaps that cannot be filled. It is a challenging place."

Staff Engineer

"During the time working in Arconic technology center near Pittsburgh, my focus is on designing and developing heat treatable Aluminum alloy products based on FEA, thermodynamic and kinetic calculations and simulating microstructure evolutions during the processes such as casting, rolling, heat treatment, and aging to recommend optimized processes parameters. To realize my focus, I developed models such as to predict the number density, size, and volume fraction of Al3Zr_L12, Mn-, and Cr- dispersoids during annealing process of Micromill Al-alloys to improve the mechanical property. I developed a model to predict ingot hot tearing with considering tensile strain, growth of grains and liquid feeding. My goal is as an import key in cross-functional teams to support plants by completing on-time assigned research & development chartered projects by writing technical reports summarizing work and presentations to peers on progress."
